Nick Semenykhin Quartet has been formed in Winter 2023 to record a debut album comprised of mostly Nick’s originals as well as a few of his favourite standards. The band consists of Bryn Roberts on piano, Ben Boardman on bass, Olivier Malette on drums, and Nick Semenykhin on guitar. The quartet's artistic idea is to explore the interplay between the members and implicate it into the original material written by Nick. The music the quartet makes varies largely between traditional and modern jazz music, utilizing odd meters and unusual forms while keeping the pillars of the tradition intact: a mesmerizing melody, creative harmony and strong rhythm feel to keep it all together.
