Jacob Soucy is a Canadian trumpeter, composer, and producer based in Toronto. Soucy’s forthcoming EP includes music influenced by J Dilla, KAYTRANADA, Anderson. Paak, Roy Hargrove, Robert Glasper, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Brasstracks, and Vulfpeck. Neo-soul, hip-hop, jazz-fusion, hyper-pop, and house/edm somehow tied together. Minimalist Maximalism.
While currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Soucy first laid roots in British Columbia, growing up in Vancouver and Vernon. Soucy was awarded an Outstanding Soloist Award at the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival in 2016, The Best Brass Player Award at the BC Interior Jazz Festival in 2016, and a scholarship from the Vernon Jazz Society in 2017.
