Born in Ottawa, Ontario, saxophonist Chris Maskell is an emerging artist in both the Montreal and Ottawa jazz scenes. Maskell currently attends McGill University's Schulich School of Music, where he is pursuing his Master of Music in Jazz Performance. During his time as an undergraduate student at the school, he studied privately with saxophonists Donny Kennedy, Frank Lozano and Rémi Bolduc. Previously, he has also taken lessons from some of Canada’s greatest musicians, including Kirk MacDonald, Kelly Jefferson, Mark Ferguson and Mike Tremblay.

Maskell has extensive performing experience, and has most recently appeared in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa with his own groups. He has performed with Seamus Blake, Josh Rager, Petr Cancura, the TD Jazz Youth Summit, the Yamaha All-Star Band, McGill Jazz Orchestra I, the Nic Gaumond Octet, Static Gold, the Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Stevens & Kennedy Band, and the Crane Latin Ensemble, among others.
Additionally, he has appeared at the Ottawa Jazz Festival, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Toronto Undergraduate Jazz Festival, Merrickville's Jazz Festival and the Ottawa Blues Festival, TD Jazz Youth Summit, the Yamaha All-Star Band, McGill Jazz Orchestra I, the Nic Gaumond Octet, Static Gold, the Capital Youth Jazz Orchestra, the Stevens & Kennedy Band, and the Crane Latin Ensemble, among others.
